“BPS produces a wealth of data, which can be accessed through the AllStats application. Please feel free to explore it to gain deeper insights into regional databases,” said Chief Statistician of Statistics Indonesia (BPS), Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, addressing the academic community members of the Patriot Expedition Team, gathered at Balai Kartini (August 25). The team will conduct four months of research in transmigration areas.

The Patriot Expedition Team consists of academics from seven leading state universities, including the University of Indonesia (UI), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), Padjadjaran University (UNPAD), and Diponegoro University (UNDIP). Amalia attended as a speaker in the ministerial lecture session, providing guidance to the team on their mission to conduct research and map economic potential in support of the Asta Cita development agenda in transmigration areas.

Amalia explained some of the Village Potential (Podes) data to illustrate the diversity of BPS data that can be explored for research and to support the development of the economic potential of transmigration areas. Amalia gave an example by analyzing Podes data for the South Amanuban District in NTT. The data shows that every village in the district has a textile industry, several villages have furniture and food industries, and two villages have superior products, although these have not yet been exported.

In addition, Amalia also analyzed data on tourism in Bali, sources of economic growth in several provinces, and plantation centres for various commodities in North Sumatera Province.

The Patriot Expedition Team is a government program that distributes talented human resources to transmigration areas to conduct research, explore economic potential, and improve development in transmigration areas, with the hope of increasing prosperity and the surrounding economy. Amalia said that BPS fully supports and provides data that can be explored by the Patriot Expedition Team.
