BPS Chief Statistician, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, together with the Minister of Housing and Settlements (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, and the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), Meutya Viada Hafid, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Provision and Updating of Journalists’ Statistical Data and/or Information as well as the Implementation of Housing for Journalists. The signing took place at Wisma Mandiri 2, Jakarta, on April 8.
The signing of this MoU represents a concrete form of synergy between BPS, the Ministry of PKP, and the Ministry of Komdigi in supporting the provision of decent and affordable housing for journalists. BPS is committed to ensuring the implementation of this MoU through data synchronization, data reconciliation, and the integration of journalists’ statistical data with the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN), which serves as the single source of truth for more targeted social assistance and community empowerment programs in Indonesia.
In her remarks, Amalia emphasized the vital role of journalists for government institutions like BPS. "As the official provider of national statistics, BPS fully recognizes that journalists are essential partners in disseminating BPS data to the wider public. Their role is crucial in ensuring that data does not merely remain as numbers, but is transformed into enlightening information that raises public awareness and encourages participation in development,” she stated.
BPS’s support in implementing this MoU is part of its ongoing efforts to produce Meaningful and Impactful Statistics for an Advanced and Prosperous Indonesia.
