The Tangible Role of Statistical Data for Urban Slum Eradication

During a field visit to Menteng district, the Chief Statistician of BPS RI, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, emphasized the strategic role of statistical data in supporting urban spatial planning and housing renovation programs initiated by the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (27/2).

Through the integration and updating of field data, BPS maps slum areas with precision to ensure that government assistance, such as home renovation and economic empowerment programs is accurately targeted toward the families in greatest need.

BPS’s commitment further includes evaluating the impact of these interventions through baseline and post-program surveys. This ensures policy effectiveness in transforming substandard settlements into organized, habitable, and productive environments for the community.
