BPS and ILO Strengthen Cooperation in Labor Statistics Development

July 1, 2026 | Other Activities

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as a strategic step to strengthen cooperation in the development and analysis of labor statistics. The MoU was signed by the Chief Statistician of BPS RI, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, and the ILO Chief Statistician and Director of the Department of Statistics, Rafael Diez de Medina, who participated virtually from Geneva, Switzerland, and was represented by the ILO Country Director for Indonesia and Timor-Leste, Simrin Singh.

This collaboration encompasses the development of statistical methodologies, data analysis, human resource capacity building, technical consultations, and knowledge exchange to support the provision of high-quality and internationally standardized labor statistics. Through this partnership, BPS and the ILO are committed to continuously driving innovation and strengthening a labor statistics system that is responsive to labor market dynamics.

BPS also highlighted various ongoing transformations, including increasing the frequency of the National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) to a quarterly basis and aligning its methodologies with international standards. The ILO's support is expected to further enhance the quality of Indonesia's labor statistics, enabling them to serve as a reliable foundation for data-driven development policymaking.
