Indonesia’s Statistical Diplomacy on the Global Stage: International Cooperation to Strengthen National Statistical Systems
March 16, 2026 | Other Activities
From February 27 to March 6, 2026, national statistical offices (NSOs) from around the world gathered in New York for Statistical Week. The Indonesian delegation, led by the Chief Statistician of BPS RI, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, actively participated, including in bilateral meetings with various NSOs as part of statistical diplomacy.
BPS expanded its presence on the international stage by signing cooperation agreements with several NSOs, including Paris21, Statistics Norway (SBS), SESRIC, and Qazstat. These agreements represent a commitment among institutions to build national statistical capacity, covering issues ranging from climate change, the use of Artificial Intelligence and big data, the utilization of administrative data, and measurements beyond GDP, as well as serving as a form of international collaboration. Through these agreements, BPS strengthens Indonesia’s position within the global statistical community.
