Leveraging Accurate Data to Strengthen the Impact of National Housing Programs
April 8, 2026 | BPS Activities
The Chief Statistician of BPS RI, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, emphasized the critical role of official statistics as the foundation for formulating and implementing government programs. This statement was made during the National Launch of the 2026 Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) in Tangerang, Banten (30/3). The event was attended by the Minister of Home Affairs, the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), and the Governor of Banten.
Prior to the main event, the Chief Statistician of BPS RI, alongside the Minister of PKP and the Presidential Chief of Staff, conducted a direct inspection of the living conditions of prospective beneficiaries to ensure the program is accurately targeted. Statistical data indicates a consistent decline in the housing ownership backlog and a steady improvement in housing habitability, reflecting significant progress in meeting the public's need for decent housing. Beyond improving living standards, housing programs also stimulate local economic activity by engaging local labor and businesses.
The utilization of the National Single Social and Economic Data (DTSEN) is key to ensuring that program interventions reach the households most in need. Additionally, the Chief Statistician of BPS RI called on the public to participate actively in the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026), an initiative aimed at providing accurate data to support more precise and effective development policies.
