Fostering Human Capital in Statistics: Synergy between BPS and ITB

December 18, 2025 | Other Activities

The Chief Statistician of BPS RI, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, inaugurated the 173rd Statistics Corner at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) alongside the Rector of ITB, Tatacipta Dirgantara, on November 25. The inauguration began with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BPS and ITB, symbolizing their synergy aimed at developing the quality of human resources in the field of statistics. The event was attended by officials from BPS RI, the STIS Statistics Polytechnic, and BPS West Java Province.

In her speech, Amalia emphasized the importance of human capital in the development of an organization, stating, “The development of the BPS statistical institution must begin with nurturing the human resources that will work at BPS, and we have already started to organize this and provide them with extensive knowledge.” Additionally, in line with the development of statistical human resources, the STIS Statistics Polytechnic will launch a master’s program in 2026 and will collaborate with ITB to offer a joint degree program in Data Science.

During the same occasion, Amalia expressed her hopes for the Statistics Corner at ITB to serve as a platform for students to learn and enhance their statistical literacy. “I hope the Statistics Corner at ITB becomes an engaging place to learn statistics and continues to serve as a bridge between BPS and ITB to build and strengthen collaboration in developing statistical human resources, fostering more meaningful partnerships, and advancing statistics in Indonesia,” she concluded.
