Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, Chief Statistician of Statistics Indonesia (BPS), paid a working visit to North Sumatra Province on Wednesday, 20 August 2024.
During her visit, Amalia joined North Sumatra Governor M. Bobby Afif Nasution as a keynote speaker at the Regional Economic Development Coordination Meeting, attended by regents and mayors from across the province. The event was held at Tengku Rizal Nurdin Hall, the Governor’s Official Residence.
Governor Bobby highlighted the close collaboration between the provincial government and BPS North Sumatra, particularly in providing high-quality data that has been instrumental in shaping development policies.
Amalia, in her remarks, underlined the importance of using macroeconomic indicators as the basis for evidence-based policymaking to drive sustainable development in the region.
The following day, Thursday, 21 August 2025, Amalia continued her agenda with a visit to the BPS North Sumatra Provincial Office. She commended the team for successfully renovating facilities and creating a more comfortable working environment.
Amalia also encouraged the staff at the province to fill public spaces with enlightening statistical insights that foster optimism. She reiterated that everyone at BPS must uphold data quality at every stage of statistical work, ensuring that the policies crafted by decision-makers truly bring positive impact to society.
