BPS Releases Indonesian Hajj Service Satisfaction Index 2026 Using a More Comprehensive Methodology

August 11, 2026 | BPS Activities

BPS continues to refine its measurement of Hajj service quality through the 2026 Indonesian Hajj Service Satisfaction Index (IKLHI). Previously, the IKLHI was known as the Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims’ Satisfaction Index (IKJHI). Unlike previous measurements, which focused on services provided overseas, the IKLHI now covers both domestic and overseas services, assessing not only the outcomes of the services received by pilgrims but also the organizational processes involved. These improvements are also aligned with the latest regulations.

Today, Thursday (6/8), the Chief Statistician of BPS RI, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, released the 2026 IKLHI at the launch event for the Indonesian Hajj Service Satisfaction Survey and Statistical Review 1447 H/2026 M, which was attended by the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, along with his staff.

As a result, the 2026 IKLHI stood at 83.28, with the following breakdown: Overseas IKLHI: 82.71 and Domestic IKLHI: 83.85. To ensure comparability over time, BPS also conducted backcasting or recalculated the index for 2019–2025 using the new method. Thus, improvements in the quality of Hajj services can be consistently compared from year to year.

This survey involved 14,400 Hajj pilgrims selected at random and was conducted at various service points, ranging from embarkation points in Indonesia to airports, Medina, Mecca, and Armuzna. Respondents completed the questionnaire independently, with supplementary support from interviews and direct observations conducted by staff. The results serve as data-driven input for evaluating and improving the quality of Hajj services in the future.
