Jakarta, (10/9) – The Statistics Indonesia (BPS) has released the Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims Satisfaction Index (IKJHI) for 2025, with a score of 88.46. This figure is categorized as “very satisfactory” and shows an increase compared to 2024, when the index stood at 88.20.
The Chief Statistician of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, explained that a score above 85 indicates a high level of satisfaction. “The IKJHI for 2025 reached 88.46. This achievement shows that Indonesian Hajj pilgrims received Hajj services at a very satisfactory level,” Amalia stated while presenting the survey results in Jakarta on Wednesday (10/9).
When broken down by type of services, the highest satisfaction this year was recorded for the Prayer Bus Transportation service, with a score of 92.15, an increase of 0.54 points compared to the previous year. This was followed by Inter-City Bus
Transportation service with a score of 91.62, up 0.51 points, and Hajj Officers service with a score of 89.72, up 0.75 points. Compared to 2024, tent accommodation services experienced the largest increase, rising by 2.27 points.
Meanwhile, when analyzed by operational or work area, satisfaction levels were categorized as very satisfactory across all areas except Armuzna (Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina). The highest satisfaction scores this year were recorded at the airports (91.48), Mecca (89.14), and Medina (89.12), while satisfaction in Armuzna was recorded at 84.84.
The IKJHI is derived from the Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims Satisfaction Survey (SKJHI) conducted by BPS since 2010 and is mandated by Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj. This survey aims to measure the level of satisfaction of Indonesian pilgrims with the quality of each type of service provided by the government, including worship services, Hajj officers, bus transportation, accommodation, food and beverage services, and other services. In addition, the survey is designed to gather feedback from pilgrims regarding services that need improvement for future Hajj operations.
The survey was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 14,400 pilgrims selected randomly, consisting of 6,400 in the first wave and 8,000 in the second wave. Respondents at seven observation points, including airports, Medina, Mecca, and Armuzna, completed the questionnaires independently. To enrich the information, officers also conducted direct interviews and observed the services received by pilgrims.
As a development from previous surveys, this year included a survey on elderly-friendly and disability-friendly services, expanding on the disability service survey conducted in previous years.
The survey also showed that the majority of Indonesian pilgrims in 2025 were female (55.54 percent), and most pilgrims were over 40 years old (89.71 percent). Pilgrims’ educational levels varied, with 28.93 percent having higher education (bachelor’s degree/D-IV or above) and 25.99 percent having completed senior high school or its equivalent.
