The Chief Statistician of BPS RI, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, has been appointed as Co-Chair of the Governing Board of the International Comparison Program (ICP), alongside the Head of Brazil’s National Statistical Office (President of IBGE). The ICP is a global statistical initiative involving more than 170 countries to produce internationally comparable economic indicators.
Over the next three years, the Chief Statistician of BPS RI will co-lead the ICP Governing Board with Brazil, providing strategic direction and ensuring that the program is implemented in accordance with international standards. Through this program, key indicators such as Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) are produced to enable more equitable comparisons of purchasing power and economic size across countries.
This appointment underscores Indonesia’s active role within the global statistical community, while also strengthening BPS’s contribution to the development of international statistical standards and cross-country statistical cooperation.
