Across various international sessions and side events, Indonesia has shared its experience in innovating the use of new data sources for official statistics. One of the key practices presented was the utilization of Mobile Positioning Data (MPD), derived from telecommunications data, to produce statistics that are more responsive to societal dynamics.
The use of MPD enables the development of a wide range of statistical indicators, including tourism statistics and population mobility, through faster and more efficient approaches. Indonesia’s experience in transforming telecommunications data into official statistics has also become an important reference for other countries seeking to build more modern and adaptive statistical systems.
Indonesia’s participation in this forum reflects the commitment of Statistics Indonesia (BPS) to continuously strengthen innovation, foster international collaboration, and advance the use of new data sources to support more targeted and effective policymaking.
