The restructuring of slum areas in Parit Baru Village, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan, is one of the government’s concrete steps toward improving the quality of community settlements based on data. The Vice Chief Statistician of BPS RI, Sonny Harry Budiutomo Harmadi, joined Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian and Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas, Maruarar Sirait in a site visit to Parit Baru Village on Monday (2/3).

Through a program implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Parit Baru Village is being developed in an integrated manner, including the construction of neighborhood roads, drainage systems, and waste management facilities. These efforts aim to improve the living conditions of the settlement, which was previously classified as a moderately slum area.

In line with the data-driven approach also used by BPS to assess social conditions, the redevelopment of slum areas is a crucial component of efforts to enhance the quality of life and access to adequate housing. This program is expected to drive improvements in community well-being indicators while reducing disparities in housing quality across various regions of Indonesia.
