Vice Chief Statistician of Statistics Indonesia (BPS), Sonny Harry Budiutomo Harmadi, served as a keynote speaker at the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), held at the Tennis Indoor Stadium, Gelora Bung Karno Senayan, Jakarta, on August 12. In his presentation, Sonny discussed the importance of data as a foundation for making accurate and impactful decisions, under the theme “Kampus Berdampak: Belajar, Berkembang, Berkontribusi.” The event was attended by thousands of students from various academic disciplines.

In his presentation, Sonny emphasized the importance of understanding and managing data skills for students. With these skills, students can apply their knowledge to solve various problems and support decision-making across different fields accurately and effectively. The ability to comprehend, analyze, and utilize data has become one of the essential competencies in today’s fast-paced and highly competitive digital era.

Furthermore, Sonny encouraged new students to foster a spirit of collaboration and adaptability in response to the advancement of science and technology. BPS’s participation in this event is part of its efforts to broaden data literacy among the younger generation. It is hoped that the new students of UPN “Veteran” Jakarta will not only understand the importance of data but also be inspired to become an outstanding generation with strong character and global competitiveness.
