Strengthening Statistical Integration for Special Economic Zones and Industrial Zones

January 8, 2026 | BPS Activities

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) together with the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, the Ministry of Industry, and the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs are strengthening strategic synergy in improving data collection on Special Economic Zones (KEK) and Industrial Zones (KI) as an important part of preparations for the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026). This collaboration aims to overcome data collection obstacles in industrial zones, open access to field verification, and integrate the national industrial statistics system to be able to capture the contribution of the manufacturing sector more accurately and comprehensively.

Present at the meeting to discuss the collaboration in Jakarta (18/12) were the Chief of BPS RI, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti; the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy; the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita; the Vice Chief Statistician of BPS RI, Sonny Harry Budiutomo Harmadi; and the Deputy for Industry, Labor, and Tourism Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Dida Gardera.

Through policy support, strengthening of information systems, and the involvement of various stakeholders, this inter-ministerial synergy is expected to produce accurate and sustainable economic statistics. These statistics will serve as the main foundation for the formulation of reindustrialization policies, strengthening national competitiveness, and planning Indonesia's future economic development.
