Abstract

The added value of the trade sector is the second largest contributor to the Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The full portrait of the trade sector in Indonesia can be obtained from the Economic Census (SE) data. However, the Economic Census (SE) is only held once every 10 years and the last SE was held in 2016. Because it is important to provide the latest data related to the development of the trade sector, Indonesia Statistics Bureau (BPS) will carry out the 2021 Trade Survey. This publication is the result of the integration of two surveys, namely Survei Profil Perdagangan dan Survei Perdagangan Antar Wilayah, which combined into Survei Profil Perdagangan 2021. This survey covers 34 provinces covering 452 regencies/cities with the survey sampling method. The data generated from this survey are estimated values that represent the condition of the trade sector up to the provincial level for conditions in 2020. The survey results show that in general the average turnover per business/company in the trading sector is 18.23 billion rupiah per year. The trade sector entrepreneurs in Indonesia are dominated by men (79.51%) and have an average age of 45 years. From the employment aspect, the average number of workers per business/company is the trading sector is 13 people with an average remuneration per worker of 38.20 million rupiah per year.
