Abstract

The wholesale and retail trade sector (G-sector) is the second-largest contributor to Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The full picture of the G-sector in Indonesia can be obtained from the Economic Census. However, the Economic Census is held every 10 years, so it is important to provide the latest data related to developments in the G-sector. Therefore, Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) conducted the Trade Survey 2020. This publication is the result of the integration of two surveys, namely the Trade Sector's Profile Survey and the Inter-Regional Trade Survey, which are held as one survey, namely the Trade Survey 2020. This survey was conducted in 34 provinces covers 488 cities/municipalities with a survey sampling method. Survey data are estimated values that represent conditions at the provincial level. The survey results show that in general, the average turnover of establishments in the trading sector is 1.2 billion per year. Furthermore, the average number of workers in the trade sector establishments is 15 people with an average remuneration of 51 million per year. Keywords: profile of the trade sector, main indicators of the trade sector, survey sampling
