Abstract

  • FTT is the ratio of the index of prices received by farmers (It) and the index of prices paid by farmers (Ib).
  • FTT is an indicator to measure the farmers’ purchasing power parity in rural areas. FTT shows the terms of trade of agricultural products with goods and services consumption and production costs.
  • In October 2023, national FTT was 115.78 or increased by 1.43 percent compared with that in September 2023. The increase in FTT was due to the increase in the index of prices received by farmers (It) at 1.67 percent, which was higher than the increase in the index of prices paid by farmers (Ib) at 0.24 percent.
  • In October 2023, Kalimantan Selatan Province experienced the highest increase in FTT at 2.53 percent. On the other hand, Kepulauan Riau Province had the highest decrease in FTT at 1.16 percent.
  • The price index of household consumption (IKRT) in October 2023 increased by 0.31 percent in Indonesia, which was due to the increase in most indexes of expenditure groups.
  • Nationally, Agriculture’s Terms of Trade (NTUP) was 116.79 in October 2023 or increased by 1.57 percent compared with September 2023.
  • There were 1,741 paddy sales transactions recorded in 26 provinces during October 2023. The percentage of transactions varied by the quality of the paddy, which was the dried harvested grain (GKP) 64.16 percent, dried unhusked grain (GKG) 24.64 percent, and the other quality 11.20 percent.
  • In October 2023, the average GKP price at the farmer level was Rp6,851 per kg, or increased by 5.16 percent, and the average GKP price at the huller level was Rp6,995 per kg, or increased by 4.69 percent compared to the price of similar quality paddy in September 2023. The average price of GKG at the farmer level was Rp7,703 per kg, or increased by 4.29 percent. Meanwhile, at the huller level was Rp7,818 per kg, or increased by 4.26 percent. The price of the other quality paddy at the farmer level was Rp6,221 per kg, or increased by 2.94 percent. While at the huller level was Rp6,353 per kg, or increased by 3.00 percent.
  • Compared to October 2022, the average price of paddy at the farmer level in October 2023 for GKP, GKG, and the other quality increased by 27.95 percent, 30.77 percent, and 28.37 percent, respectively. At the huller level, the average price of paddy in October 2023 for GKP, GKG, and the other quality increased by 27.76 percent, 30.17 percent, and 28.33 percent, respectively.
  • In October 2023, the survey of rice producer prices at the huller level was conducted in 31 provinces and recorded 1,069 observations from 856 milling businesses.
  • Compared to September 2023, the average price of premium quality rice at the huller level in October 2023 was Rp13,372 per kg, or increased by 3.65 percent. The price of medium quality rice at the huller level was Rp13,012 per kg, or increased by 2.57 percent, and the average price of the other quality rice at the huller level was Rp12,381 per kg, or increased by 5.41 percent. 
  • Compared to the October 2022, the average price of rice at the huller level in October 2023 for premium, medium, and the other quality increased by 28.54 percent, 29.55 percent, and 30.11 percent, respectively.
