Abstract

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June 2007 was 148.92 or inflated 0.23 % from May 2007 at 148.58. All expenditure groups increased, except clothing. The changes of expenditure group as follows: the food stuff increased from 145.73 to 146.42 or inflated 0.23 %; the prepared food, beverages, cigarette and tobacco increased from 143.79 to 144.27 or inflated 0.33 %; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel increased from 151.96 to 152.16 or inflated 0.13 %; the clothing decreased from 131.51 to 130.94 or deflated 0.43 %; the health increased from 129.43 to 129.71 or inflated 0.22 %; the education, recreation and sport increased from 148.19 to 148.24 or inflated 0.03 %; and the last group, the transportation, communication and financial services increased from 168.00 to 168.19 or inflated 0.11 %.
The inflation of June 2007 was mainly caused by price increases of several commodities, i.e.: red chili, cooking oil, filter cigarette, clove-flavored cigarette, shallot, gasoline, tempe (soybean fermented cake), cucumber, tofu, liquid propane gas, kangkung (kind of leafy vegetable), powder milk, petai, leasing house fee, noodle, and fresh fish. Meanwhile, the prices of the following commodities were decreased: purebred chicken eggs, gold accessories, purebred chicken meat, green jackfruit, mustard greens, water melon, papaya, garlic, sugar, and kerosene.
In June 2007, the core of CPI changed from 138.55 to 138.69 or inflated 0.10 %. The volatile good component changed from 149.88 to 150.66 or inflated 0.52 %, and the administered good component changed from 181.93 to 182.37 or inflated 0.24 %. The core inflation rate for January to June 2007 and year-on-year (June 2007 on June 2006) were 2.11 % and 5.40 % respectively. While inflation rate of the volatile component for January to June 2007 and year-on-year (June 2007 on June 2006) were 2.46 % and 11.07 % respectively. Furthermore inflation rate of the administered goods for January to June 2007 and year-on-year (June 2007 on June 2006) were 1.81 % and 2.61 % respectively.
