Abstract

  • The Indonesia Consumer Price Index (CPI) On April 2004, Based On 45 Cities Observation, Increases From 110.83 In March To 111.91 In April Or Inflation Rate 0.97 %. All of the expenditure groups in the Consumer Price Index component are increasing: foodstuff 1.78 %; prepared food, beverages, cigarette and tobacco 0.32 %; housing, water, electric, gas and fuel 1.23 %; clothing 0.24 %; health 0.78 %; education, recreation and sport 0.11 %; transport, communication and financial service 0.44 %.
  • Since January 2004, the National Consumer Price Index has been calculated based on prices observations in 45 cities through out the country. The basket of commodities and services resulted from the 2002 Household Expenditures Surveys (HES) is used to calculate the index. More commodities and services (financial and telecommunication services in particular) are included in the new basket to fit in the current household consumption pattern and retail market development. The commodities and services weights changed accordingly and the index base year shifted from 1996 to 2002. Table below presents the monthly CPI of 2003 by expenditures groups and base year 2002.
