Population changes are not merely numbers, but a reflection of the changing face of Indonesia and the direction of future development. This message emerged during the National Seminar and Dissemination of the 2025 Intercensal Population Survey (SUPAS) Results at the BPS Training Center (Pusdiklat) (1/8), which served as a forum for translating population dynamics into more adaptive perspectives and policies.
The Vice Chief Statistician of BPS RI, Sonny Harry Budiutomo Harmadi, emphasized that the structure and dynamics of Indonesia’s population are constantly changing. Today’s demographic challenges are no longer the same as in the past, so development policies must be supported by data capable of capturing these changes in a more timely and comprehensive manner. The results of SUPAS 2025 are expected to serve as a key foundation for understanding these changes while formulating more targeted development responses.
The seminar also brought together complementary perspectives, including statistics, global population development, and views of the younger generation. The launch of SUPAS 2025 video and the theme song of the Youth Population Coalition signaled that population data does not end with publication but must be translated into knowledge, ideas, and collective action.
