BPS Earns UNSD Recognition for Leadership in Global Statistical Community
January 7, 2026 | Other Activities
The Chief Statistician of Statistics Indonesia (BPS) RI, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, held a strategic meeting with Senior Statistician from the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), Steven King and Senior Statistician from the UN Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (UNSIAP), Sokol Vako at BPS Office (6/12).
In this meeting, UNSD delivered their appreciation to BPS for its commitment and a strong reputation for global statistics community, therefore BPS was asked to coordinate a pilot project in developing a System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA), which would then become the basis for developing biodiversity indicators.
The results of this pilot project are highly strategic as they will form the basis of the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) calculation methodology, which will be used as a global reference by all national statistics offices (NSOs) and will also form part of Indonesia's commitment to fulfilling its obligations under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). BPS's leadership in this collaborative effort also strengthens Indonesia's leadership in the global statistics office community.
