“The presence of distinguished guests is an extraordinary honour for BPS and a source of encouragement for all BPS employee across Indonesia who are simultaneously celebrating National Statistics Day,” stated Chief Statistician of Statistics Indonesia (BPS) RI, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, at the National Statistics Day (HSN) Award2025 in Jakarta, Friday (September 26).

At the peak event of National Statistics Day (HSN) 2025, Amalia was accompanied by Vice Chief Statistician of Statistics Indonesia (BPS) RI, Sonny Harry Budiutomo Harmadi, along with other members of the BPS leadership. Amalia explained that HSN is commemorated every September 26, marking the enactment of Undang-Undang No. 7 Tahun 1960 tentang Statistik.

The theme of HSN 2025, Statistics Impact for Advanced Indonesia,” reflects BPS’s commitment to delivering accurate, up-to-date, and reliable statistical data and information as the foundation for planning, evaluation, and policymaking. The event was attended by Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, Rachmat Pambudy, as Keynote Speaker; Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas, Maruarar Sirait; Deputy Minister of Manpower, Afriansyah Noor; and Chairman of the National Professional Certification Agency, Syamsi Hari.

Support for BPS was also expressed by Maruarar Sirait, who highlighted his longstanding partnership with the institution. “I partnered with BPS for 15 years when I was in Commission XI. I believe BPS works professionally and wholeheartedly, and its role is highly significant,” said Maruarar, expressing hope that BPS will continue to grow stronger and more credible.

One of the most important in presenting statistical information, is the field data collection process which involves stakeholders from ministries, government agencies, businesses, as well as the public as direct respondents. As a token of appreciation for their active participation in the data provision process, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) presented by the BPS Awards, including the category for ministries/agencies, which was awarded to Bappenas. Rachmat Pambudy acknowledged that BPS had been producing statistical data even before 1960. “Statistics have existed since the 1930s. The relationship between BPS and Bappenas has always been very close. For a long time, BPS has maintained a strong reputation, both domestically and internationally,” he remarked. The BPS Award in the association/company category was presented to the Indonesian E-Commerce Association (idEA), while the award in mass media was given to Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI).
