Ateng Hartono, Deputy Chief Statistician for Social Statistics at Statistics Indonesia (BPS), received a Token of Appreciation on behalf of the organization in recognition of its role as Chair of Working Group IV under the National Strategy for Accelerating Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Development (Stranas AKPSH). The award was presented by Maliki, Deputy for Population and Manpower at the Ministry of National Development Planning (PPN)/Bappenas, in Jakarta on December 27.

The accolade acknowledges BPS’s significant contributions to the implementation of Stranas AKPSH over the past five years. Under its leadership, Working Group IV has been tasked with advancing the availability, accuracy, and timeliness of vital statistics to underpin national development planning and execution. The group includes representatives from key government agencies such as the Ministries of Health, Finance, Home Affairs, Communication and Informatics, as well as Bappenas, the National Cyber and Crypto Agency, and the National Population and Family Planning Board.

In his address, Maliki outlined the progress achieved during the 2019-2024 strategy period. "Notable advancements include innovations in civil registration services, heightened public awareness, increased ownership of vital documents, improved development of vital statistics, and strengthened intersectoral coordination," he remarked.

The event also featured a panel discussion titled “Harnessing Civil Registration and Vital Statistics for Inclusive Development,” with Ali Said, Director of Population and Labor Statistics at BPS, serving as a keynote speaker.
