December 18, 2018 | BPS Activities

Jakarta - The Medium Large Industrial Survey (IBS) is a source of data to produce industrial data that contributes to Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In order to finalize the preparation of the production index resulting from the survey of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and rubber industry commodities (crumb rubber), BPS held a Forum Group Discussion (FGD), (10/12).

Located at Sari Pacific Hotel, the FGD was opened by the Deputy of BPS Production Statistics, M. Habibullah. The event was also attended by the Head of the Department of Industry, Ministry of Industry Willem Petrus Riwu, expert staff minister Erna Zeta and Zakir Mahmud, as well as several officials within the Ministry of Industry and BPS. The main discussion of this FGD discussed the production index and GDP of CPO and the crumb rubber in splitting GDP of CPO and crumb rubber. Splitting GDP is an attempt to separate GDP of CPO and crumb rubber from GDP of food.

"Synergy between BPS and the Ministry of Industry is very much needed. It is not easy to record 1287 companies that are samples of CPO surveys and crumb rubber," Habib explained when opening the FGD. On that occasion, Willem explained, the need to increase the contribution of CPO and crumb rubber, as well as how to process them so that they can increase added value to boost foreign exchange and contribute to GDP. "To support the industrial revolution 4.0, digital, internet and robotic industry-based industries continue to be developed," Willem added.
