Wholesale Price Index (WPI) (2018=100), 2024

- Since January 2020, BPS has changed the base year for calculating the Wholesale Price Index (IHPB) from the base year (2010 = 100) to the base year (2018 = 100). Changes in the base year are part of the process of aligning the base year for the Consumer Price Index (CPI) because the Wholesale Price Index (IHPB) is a leading indicator for consumer price analysis, as well as a trend of changes in trading mechanisms in general.

- The IHPB commodity package (2018 = 100) was based on the IHPB Weighing Chart Compilation Survey (SPDT), which produced 687 commodities with 312 new selected commodities and 58 commodities are no longer used. Referring to the concept of international standards, the coverage of IHPB (2018 = 100) includes the Agriculture Sector, Mining and Quarrying Sector, and Industrial Sector.

- IHPB for the Export and Import group is currently refining its methodology by referring to international standards: the Manual of Export and Import Price Index (XMPI) and the Manual of International Trade Price Index (ITPI). Therefore, IHPB International Trade (export-import) is presented under the name International Trade Price Index (IHPI). IHPI calculation (2010 = 100) is based on The monitoring of commodity price developments in export and import activities.
