Abstract

Migration is one of the main components of population dynamics that continues to shape demographic changes in Indonesia. Differences in economic opportunities, access to services, and the quality of facilities across regions are among the key factors driving population movement, particularly toward urban areas. This phenomenon not only contributes to the growth of urbanization but also creates various development challenges, such as increasing pressure on infrastructure in destination areas and the declining potential of human resources in areas of origin. The Migrant Profile from the 2025 National Socio-Economic Survey (March 2025 Susenas) was prepared to provide an overview of the volume, rate, patterns, and flows of migration in Indonesia based on the results of the March 2025 Susenas. In addition, this publication examines the characteristics of migrants from various aspects, including age, sex, marital status, educational attainment, and other related characteristics. The analysis is also extended to the household level to provide a more comprehensive understanding of migration dynamics in Indonesia.
