Abstract

Amid rising global temperatures, extreme weather, and unpredictable seasonal shifts, much of the focus has been directed toward major sectors such as the energy, manufacturing, and transportation industries. Meanwhile, the most immediate contributors often escape attention: waste management and cooking fuel in household kitchens. The 2nd Edition of the 2026 Statistical Data Stories (Cerita Data Statistik-CERDAS) raises the topic of global warming in two article titles: 1) Vulnerability Analysis and Circular Economy Opportunities for Waste Managers in Indonesia; 2) Creating a Climate-Friendly Cooking Culture: A Geographical and Socio-Economic Portrait of Households. The first article reviews waste management approaches, the condition of waste management workers, and circular economy opportunities. The second article analyzes the need for fuel switching, which aims to reduce the use of unclean fuels as a transformation toward a climate-friendly cooking culture. Through the connection between these two pieces, we will see that solutions to global warming are interconnected, ranging from domestic matters of cooking fuel in the kitchen to waste management.
