Gender Inequality Index 2024

The publication of this book is motivated by the persistent issue of gender inequality in Indonesia. Policies aimed at reducing gender disparities or achieving gender equality require robust data and well-defined strategies. One of the indicators used to assess gender inequality is the Gender Inequality Index (GII), known in Indonesia as the Indeks Ketimpangan Gender (IKG). The IKG adopts the methodology developed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the 2010 Gender Inequality Index (GII), adjusted to suit the available national data. The IKG specifically measures disparities in achievements between women and men in three dimensions: reproductive health, empowerment, and labor market participation.
