Human Development Index 2024

During the 2020–2024 period, Indonesia’s Human Development Index (HDI) consistently recorded positive growth. In 2024, the HDI grew by 0.85 percent, significantly surpassing the average growth rate of 0.72 percent recorded between 2020 and 2023. The HDI growth in 2024 was mainly driven by the recovery in the standard of living dimension, represented by adjusted real per capita expenditure. The average real per capita expenditure increased by 442 thousand Rupiah (growing by 3.71 percent) compared to 2023. At the regional level, HDI development also showed continued improvement. Regional HDI disparities tended to narrow, in line with the accelerated HDI growth in areas that had previously lagged behind. The acceleration of HDI growth in 2024 was also positive when viewed by gender.
