Abstract

As a support to policy making about metropolitan areas, in 2021 BPS conducted Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) study in two metropolitan areas: Patungraya Agung in South Sumatra Province, and Banjarbakula in South Kalimantan Province. One topic of the study was on the use of MSA-Mobile Positioning Data (MSA MPD) which produces information on commuter patterns, scope of delineation in the selected metropolitan areas, as well as measures of accuracy of the methodology used. The results of MSA MPD will be useful for evaluation and improvement of MSA methodology in the future, and might be used by relevant ministries, institutions and academics for research and policy making related to regional development.
