Abstract

The first objective of Indonesia National Development Planning 2015-2019 is to increase inclusive and sustainable economic growth. One of the government strategies to achieve the objective is by reaching a higher degree of competitiveness and strengthening the contribution of Micro, Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).According to the Result of the 2016 Economic Census, the number of Micro Small Enterprises (MSEs) and Medium Large Enterprises (MLEs) in Indonesia each was 22,26 million units and 447 352 units respectively. Furthermore, the activities of SE2016-Continued was held from August to September 2017. This activity is a data collection on MSEs and MLEs which collect various detailed and comprehensive information on economic activities. The various information illustrates the economic situation in all business fields other than Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries. The publication of the results of the Economic Census 2016-Continued will mainly optimize various information on economic activities that are more detailed and comprehensive in the processing industry business field. Various information from other data sources is integrated to carry out Business Competitiveness Analysis of the Manufacturing Industry. The scope of business competitiveness analysis is focused on several selected 3-digit, 4-digit and 5-digit KBLI's which are considered to be strategic or export-oriented commodities or commodity groups, such as coffee, tea, cocoa, chocolate, processed foods and dishes, and others. The results of measuring the competitiveness of the business of the selected commodity of manufacturing industry provide an overview of business competitiveness indexes and their explanatory factors according to region and scale of business. The results of this study are expected to be able to contribute as consideration in policy making that is right on target.
