Abstract

A. Growth of Tourism

  • In June 2023, international visitor arrivals in Indonesia were 1.06 million. International visitors increased by 119.64 percent compared with June 2022 (year-on-year) and 11.44 percent compared with May 2023 (month-tomonth). International arrivals in June 2023 were dominated by visitors from Singapore (16.41 percent), Malaysia (15.88 percent), and Australia (12.47 percent).
  • In Semester I 2023, domestic tourism trips in Indonesia reached 433.57 million trips. This number has increased by 12.57 percent compared to Semester I 2022 (cumulative-to-cumulative). Jawa Timur was recorded as the province with the highest number of domestic tourism trips, both as the origin of the trip and as the destination for domestic tourists.
  • The room occupancy rate of classified hotels in June 2023 was 53.67 percent, which increased by 3.39 percentage points (year-on-year) and 4.65 percentage points (month-to-month). Meanwhile, the room occupancy rate of non-classified hotels was 24.58 percent, which increased by 0.66 percentage points (year-on-year) and 0.34 percentage points (month-to-month). The average length of stay at classified hotels was 1.66 days, scaled up by 0.05 points compared with the previous year.
  • B. Growth of National Transport

  • The number of domestic air transport passengers departing in June 2023 was 5.5 million, a decrease of 4.15 percent compared to May 2023. International air transport passengers increased by 10.66 percent to 1.4 million. From January to June 2023, the number of domestic air transport passengers was 30.4 million, increasing by 23.37 percent. The number of international air transport passengers was 7.1 million and increased by 311.56 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
  • The number of domestic sea transport passengers departing in June 2023 was recorded at 1.7 million, increasing by 1.71 percent compared to May 2023. The freight transported by domestic sea transport increased by 2.40 percent, turning 30.0 million tons. From January to June 2023, the number of domestic sea transport passengers reached 9.6 million and increased by 12.57 percent compared to the same period in 2022. Meanwhile, freight increased by 9.11 percent, reaching 170.5 million tons.
  • The number of railway passengers departing in June 2023 was 30.2 million people, which decreased by 0.97 percent compared to May 2023. On the contrary, freight transported by train increased by 7.40 percent to 5.7 million tons. The number of passengers reached 174.2 million from January to June 2023 and increased by 48.68 percent compared to the same period in 2022. Moreover, the cumulative freight transported by train rose by 13.03 percent to 32.4 million tons.
