Abstract

FTT is the ratio of the index of prices received by farmers (It) and the index of prices paid by farmers (Ib).

FTT is an indicator to measure the farmers’ purchasing power parity in rural areas. FTT shows the terms of trade of agricultural products with goods and services consumption and production costs.

In May 2023, national FTT was 110.20 or decreased by 0.34 percent compared with that in April 2023. The decrease in FTT was due to the decrease in the index of prices received by farmers (It) at 0.02 percent, while the index of prices paid by farmers (Ib) rose at 0.32 percent.

In May 2023, Kepulauan Bangka Belitung Province experienced the highest decrease in FTT at 5.20 percent. On the other hand, Lampung Province had the highest increase in FTT at 1.61 percent.

The price index of household consumption (IKRT) in May 2023 increased by 0.40 percent in Indonesia, which was due to the increase in most of the indexes of expenditure groups.

Nationally, Agriculture’s Terms of Trade (NTUP) was 110.74 in May 2023 or decreased by 0.16 percent compared with April 2023.

There were 1,625 paddy sales transactions recorded in 27 provinces during May 2023. The percentage of transactions varied by the quality of the paddy, which was the dried harvested grain (GKP) 61.35 percent, dried unhusked grain (GKG) 24.55 percent, and the other quality 14.10 percent.

In May 2023, the average GKP price at the farmer level was Rp5,583 per kg, or increased by 3.37 percent, and the average GKP price at the huller level was Rp5,732 per kg, or increased by 3.77 percent compared to the price of similar quality paddy in April 2023. The average price of GKG at the farmer level was Rp6,158 per kg, or increased by 0.86 percent. Meanwhile, at the huller level was Rp6,264 per kg, or increased by 0.71 percent. The price of the other quality paddy at the farmer level was Rp5,404 per kg, or increased by 2.18 percent. While at the huller level was Rp5,518 per kg, or increased by 2.36 percent.

Compared to May 2022, the average price of paddy at the farmer level in May 2023 for GKP, GKG, and the other quality increased by 25.13 percent, 19.84 percent, and 26.32 percent, respectively. At the huller level, the average price of paddy in May 2023 for GKP, GKG, and the other quality increased by 25.21 percent, 19.24 percent, and 25.98 percent, respectively.

In May 2023, the survey of rice producer prices at the huller level was conducted in 31 provinces and recorded 1,161 observations from 917 milling businesses.

Compared to April 2023, the average price of premium quality rice at the huller level in May 2023 was Rp11,624 per kg, or decreased by 0.42 percent. The price of medium quality rice at the huller level was Rp11,006 per kg, or decreased by 0.40 percent, and the average price of the other quality rice at the huller level was Rp10,429 per kg, or decreased by 1.28 percent.

Compared to the May 2022, the average price of rice at the huller level in May 2023 for premium, medium, and the other quality increased by 22.19 percent, 21.40 percent, and 17.15 percent, respectively.
