Abstract

  • In September 2022, Indonesian expenditure inequality rate as measured by Gini Ratio was 0.381. The figure was the same with September 2021 Gini Ratio, but decreased by 0.003 points when compared to March 2022 Gini Ratio at 0.384.
  • The Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2022 was recorded at 0.402, decreased compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2022 (0.403), but increased compared to the Gini Ratio in September 2021 (0.398).
  • The Gini Ratio in rural areas in September 2022 was recorded at 0.313, decreased compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2022 and September 2021 (0.314).
  • According to World Bank’s inequality measurement, the distribution of expenditure for the lowest 40 percent was 18.24 percent. This means that the population’s expenditure in September 2022 was in the range of low inequality category. When specified by region, the figure was recorded at 17.19 percent in urban areas and 21.06 percent for rural areas, and both figures indicated low inequality category.
