Abstract

EXPORT
  • The value of Indonesia’s exports in October 2022 reached US$24.81 billion, increased 0.13 percent compared to exports in September 2022 and increased 12.30 percent compared to October 2021.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in October 2022 reached US$23.43 billion, decreased 0.14 percent compared to non-oil and gas exports in September 2022 but increased 11.45 percent compared to October 2021.
  • Cumulatively, Indonesia’s exports from January to October 2022 reached US$244.14 billion, increased 30.97 percent over the same period in 2021. Likewise, non-oil and gas exports reached US$230.62 billion or increased 30.61 percent.
  • The highest increase of non-oil and gas exports in October 2022 was animal or vegetable fats and oils commodity, in amount of US$437.1 million or increased 14.38 percent from September 2022. The highest decrease was ores, slag, and ash commodity, in amount of US$407.7 million or decreased 38.57 percent.
  • By industry classification, exports of manufacturing products during period January– October 2022 increased by 20.40 percent; exports of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries increased by 14.17 percent; and exports of mining and others increased by 82.68 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
  • The main country destinations of non-oil and gas exports in October 2022 were China at US$6.25 billion, India at US$2.12 billion, and United States at US$2.07 billion, with the contribution of the three reached 44.51 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union (27 countries) amounted to US$4.23 billion and US$1.81 billion, respectively.
  • According to the province of origin, Indonesia’s largest exports in January–October 2022 came from Jawa Barat with a value of US$32.52 billion (13.32 percent), followed by Kalimantan Timur at US$30.11 billion (12.33 percent) and Jawa Timur at US$20.82 billion (8.53 percent).

IMPORT
  • Imports of Indonesia in October 2022 were worth US$19.13 billion, decreased by 3.40 percent compared with September 2022, but rose by 17.44 percent compared with October 2021.
  • Imports of oil and gas in October 2022 were worth US$3.36 billion, fell by 1.81 percent compared with September 2022, yet increased by 77.23 percent compared with October 2021.
  • Imports of non-oil and gas in October 2022 were worth US$15.77 billion, decreased by 3.73 percent compared with September 2022, yet grew by 9.56 percent compared with October 2021.
  • The most significant decline in imports of non-oil and gas in October 2022 was precious metals and jewellery/precious stones, which fell by US$196.0 million (35.97 percent). On the other hand, fertilisers experienced the highest rise with US$114.8 million (48.80 percent) increase.
  • The largest trading partner countries of non-oil and gas imports in January–October 2022 were China US$55.49 billion (33.79 percent), Japan US$14.14 billion (8.61 percent), and Thailand US$9.25 billion (5.63 percent). Imports of non-oil and gas from ASEAN and EU countries were US$27.81 billion (16.94 percent) and US$9.44 billion (5.75 percent), respectively.
  • Compared with the same period last year, the total of Indonesia imports for all broad economics categories in January–October 2022 experienced increases, which consisted of US$657.7 million (4.19 percent) of consumption goods, US$35,339.7 million (30.10 percent) of intermediate goods, and US$7,114.7 million (31.77 percent) of capital goods.
  • Indonesia’s balance of trade in October 2022 experienced a surplus of US$5.67 billion, which mainly affected by a surplus of non-oil and gas of US$7.66 billion. On the other hand, there was a deficit of US$1.99 billion in oil and gas.
