Abstract

A. Tourism Progress

  • In May 2022, the number of international visitor arrivals to Indonesia at the main entry gates was 212.33 thousand, increased by 1,382.45 percent compared with May 2021. At the same time, international visitor arrivals in May 2022 increased by 91.19 percent compared with the previous month.
  • From January to May 2022, the number of international visitor arrivals to Indonesia at the main entry gates was 397.77 thousand, which dramatically increased by 616.40 percent over the same period in 2021.
  • The room occupancy rate of classified hotels in May 2022 was 49.85 percent, increased 17.88 percentage points from May 2021. Similarly, the room occupancy rate in May 2022 increased by 15.62 percentage points compared with April 2022. Meanwhile, the room occupancy rate of non-classified hotels in May 2022 was 24.75 percent, increased a 6.69 of percentage points from May 2021 and 7.35 percentage points from April 2022.
  • The average length of stay of foreign and Indonesian guests at classified hotels during May 2022 was 1.58 days, which decreased slightly by 0.09 percentage points from the average length of stay in May 2021. While the a

B. Growth of National Transport

  • The number of domestic air transport passengers departing in May 2022 was 5.3 million people and increased by 40.41 percent compared to April 2022. The number of international air transport passengers increased by 61.56 percent to 472.9 thousand people. During January–May 2022, the number of domestic air transport passengers was 19.8 million people and increased by 63.13 percent. The number of international air transport passengers was 1.1 million people and increased by 436.55 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
  • The number of domestic sea transport passengers departing in May 2022 was recorded at 1.7 million people, increasing by 27.28 percent compared to April 2022. The amount of freight transported by domestic sea transport decreased by 5.44 percent, turning into 25.0 million tons. During January–May 2022, the number of domestic sea transport passengers reached 6.9 million people and increased by 8.43 percent compared to the same period in 2021. Meanwhile, the amount of freight increased by 0.12 percent, reaching 129.5 million tons.
  • The number of railway passengers departing in May 2022 was 23.4 million people, which increased by 19.26 percent when compared to April 2022. On the contrary, freight transported by train decreased 7.79 percent to 4.8 million tons. The number of passengers reached 93.3 million people during January–May 2022, increased by 38.43 percent when compared to the same period in 2021. On the other hand, the cumulative amount of freight transported by train rose by 15.19 percent to 23.4 million tonsverage length of stay has decreased by 0.04 percentage points compared with April 2022.
