Abstract

  • The inflation rate in June 2022 was 0.61 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 111.09. Of the 90 CPI cities surveyed, 85 cities recorded inflation while five cities recorded deflation. Gunungsitoli had the highest inflation of 2.72 percent with a CPI of 113.64, while Pontianak had the lowest inflation of 0.07 percent with a CPI of 111.11. On the other hand, Kendari recorded the highest deflation of 0.61 percent with a CPI of 111.45 and Tanjung Pandan recorded the lowest deflation of 0.03 percent with a CPI of 115.97.
  • Inflation occurred as the prices went up as indicated by the increase in most of the expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group of 1.77 percent; Clothing and Footwear Group of 0.16 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group of 0.10 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group of 0.53 percent; Health Group of 0.17 percent; Transport Group of 0.30 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group of 0.12 percent; Education Group of 0.01 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group of 0.33 percent; Personal Care and Other Services Group of 0.16 percent. On the other hand, Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group recorded a deflation of 0.04 percent.
  • The year-to-date inflation rate (June 2022 compared to December 2021) was 3.19 percent, and the year-on-year inflation (June 2022 compared to June 2021) was 4.35 percent.
  • The Core Component increased by 0.19 percent in June 2022. The year-to-date inflation rate of the Core Component (June 2022 compared to December 2021) was 1.82 percent. The year-on-year inflation of the Core Component (June 2022 compared to June 2021) was 2.63 percent.
