Abstract

A. EXPORTS
  • The value of Indonesia’s exports in April 2022 reached US$27.32 billion, increased 3.11 percent compared to exports in March 2022 and rose 47.76 percent compared to April 2021.
  • Non-oil and gas exports in April 2022 reached US$25.89 billion, increased 3.17 percent compared to non-oil and gas exports in March 2022 and rose 47.70 percent compared to April 2021.
  • Cumulatively, Indonesia’s exports from January to April 2022 reached US$93.47 billion, increased 38.68 percent over the same period in 2021. Likewise, non-oil and gas exports reached US$88.73 billion or increased 39.12 percent.
  • The highest increase of non-oil and gas exports in April 2022 was mineral fuels commodity, in amount of US$642.8 million or increased 13.88 percent from March 2022. The highest decrease was precious metals and jewellery/precious stones, in amount of US$525.0 million or decreased 47.84 percent.
  • By industry classification, exports of manufacturing products during period January–April 2022 increased by 29.19 percent; exports of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries increased by 11.94 percent; and exports of mining and others increased by 106.29 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
  • The main country destinations of non-oil and gas exports in April 2022 were China at US$5.49 billion, United States at US$2.46 billion, and Japan at US$2.24 billion, with the contribution of the three reached 39.37 percent. Meanwhile, exports to ASEAN and the European Union (27 countries) amounted to US$5.44 billion and US$2.02 billion, respectively.
  • According to the province of origin, Indonesia’s largest exports in January–April 2022 came from Jawa Barat with a value of US$13.03 billion (13.94 percent), followed by Kalimantan Timur at US$9.51 billion (10.18 percent), and Jawa Timur at US$9.13 billion (9.77 percent).
B. IMPORTS
  • Imports of Indonesia in April 2022 were worth US$19.76 billion, fell by 10.01 percent compared with March 2022, or rose by 21.97 percent compared with April 2021.
  • Imports of oil and gas in April 2022 were worth US$3.81 billion, rose by 9.21 percent compared with March 2022, or inclined by 88.48 percent compared with April 2021.
  • Imports of non-oil and gas in April 2022 were worth US$15.95 billion, decreased by 13.65 percent compared with March 2022, or grew by 12.47 percent compared with April 2021.
  • The most significant decrease in imports of non-oil and gas in April 2022 was machinery/mechanical appliances and parts thereof, which fell by US$483.4 million (17.68 percent). On the other hand, vegetables experienced the highest increase, which rose by US$63.6 million (111.83 percent).
  • The largest trading partner countries of non-oil and gas imports in January–April 2022 were China US$20.90 billion (32.58 percent), Japan US$5.63 billion (8.77 percent), and Thailand US$4.01 billion (6.24 percent). Imports of non-oil and gas from ASEAN and EU countries were US$11.42 billion (17.81 percent) and US$3.63 billion (5.66 percent), respectively.
  • Compared with the same period last year, the total of Indonesia imports for all broad economics categories in January–April 2022 experienced decreases, which consisted of US$548.8 million (9.55 percent) for consumption goods, US$14,102.9 million (31.26 percent) for intermediate goods, and US$2,337.4 million (26.78 percent) for capital goods.
  • Indonesia’s balance of trade in April 2022 experienced a surplus of US$7.56 billion, which was mainly affected by a surplus of non-oil and gas of US$9.94 billion. On the other hand, there was a deficit of US$2.38 billion in oil and gas.
