Abstract

  • The inflation rate in January 2022 was 0.56 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 108.26. Of the 90 CPI cities surveyed, 85 cities had inflation, and deflation happened in five cities. Sibolga had the highest inflation of 1.53 percent with a CPI of 109.81, while Manokwari had the lowest inflation of 0.02 percent with a CPI of 111.34. On the other hand, Kotamobagu registered the highest deflation of 0.66 percent with a CPI of 108.79, and Jayapura had the lowest deflation of 0.04 percent with a CPI of 105.83.
  • Inflation occurred as the prices went up as indicated by the increase in most of the expenditure groups indices, namely: Food, Beverages, and Tobacco Group at 1.17 percent; Clothing and Footwear Group at 0.43 percent; Housing, Water, Electricity, and Household Fuel Group at 0.51 percent; Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance Group at 0.79 percent; Health Group at 0.24 percent; Transport Group at 0.02 percent; Recreation, Sport, and Culture Group at 0.41 percent; Education Group at 0.08 percent; Food and Beverage Serving Services/Restaurant Group at 0.36 percent; and Personal Care and Other Services Group at 0.62 percent. Meanwhile, Information, Communication, and Financial Services Group had deflation of 0.13 percent.
  • The year-to-date inflation rate (January 2022) was 0.56 percent, and the year-onyear inflation (January 2022 compared to January 2021) was 2.18 percent.
  • The Core Component increased by 0.42 percent in January 2022. The year-todate inflation rate of the Core Component (January 2022) was 0.42 percent. The year-on-year inflation of the Core Component (January 2022 compared to January 2021) was 1.84 percent.
