Abstract

  • In September 2021, Indonesian expenditure inequality rate as measured by Gini Ratio was 0.381. The figure decreased by 0.003 points when compared to March 2021 Gini Ratio at 0.384 and a decrease of 0.004 points in comparison to September 2020 Gini Ratio, which was 0.385.
  • The Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2021 was recorded at 0.398, a decrease when compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2021 at 0.401 and to the Gini Ratio in September 2020 at 0.399.
  • The Gini Ratio in rural areas in September 2021 was recorded at 0.314, drop from the Gini Ratio in March 2021 at 0.315 and the Gini Ratio in September 2020 at 0.319.
  • According to World Bank’s measure of inequality, the distribution of expenditure for the lowest 40 percent was 17.97 percent. This means that the population’s expenditure in September 2021 was in the range of low inequality category. When differentiated by region, the figure was recorded at 17.00 percent in urban areas, which indicated moderate inequality category. Meanwhile, the figure was recorded at 20.83 percent for rural areas, which reflected low inequality category.
