Abstract

A. Tourism Development

The number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia in August 2021 decreased by 21.19 percent compared to the number of visits in August 2020. Likewise, when compared to July 2021, the number of foreign tourist visits in August 2021 decreased by 6.00 percent.

Cumulatively (January–August 2021), the number of foreign tourist visits reached 1.06 million visits, down by 69.17 percent when compared to the number of foreign tourist visits in the same period in 2020 which amounted to 3.44 million visits.

Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) for star classification hotels in Indonesia month August 2021 reached 25.07 percent, down by 7.86 points compared to the TPK in August 2020 which was recorded at 32.93 percent. On the other hand, the TPK in August 2021 increased by 2.69 points compared to July 2021.

Average length of stay of foreign and Indonesian guests at classification hotels stars during August 2021 was recorded at 1.60 days, down by 0.04 points when compared to the average length of stay in August 2020.

B. Transportation Development

The number of domestic air transport passengers departing in August 2021 was 1.1 million people, an increase of 7.26 percent compared to July 2021. The number of passengers for overseas (international) destinations rose 3.00 percent to 44.6 thousand people. During January–August 2021, the number of domestic passengers was 17.7 million people, down 18.26 percent, and the number of international passengers was 356.6 thousand people, or down 89.75 percent compared to the same period in 2020.

The number of domestic sea transport passengers departing in August 2021 was recorded at 1.0 million people, down 4.29 percent compared to July 2021. The number of goods transported decreased 1.22 percent to 25.9 million tons. During January-August 2021, the number of passengers reached 9.9 million people, an increase of 3.96 percent compared to the same period in 2020, while the number of goods transported rose 7.06 percent or reached 207.9 million tons.

The number of train passengers departing in August 2021 was 6.5 million people, an increase of 13.36 percent compared to July 2021. In contrast to the number of passengers, the number of goods transported by trains decreased by 3.67 percent to 4.7 million tons. During January–August 2021, the number of passengers reached 94.2 million people, a decrease of 30.49 percent compared to the same period in 2020. It was different for the number of goods transported by train, which rose 8.05 percent to 34.3 million tons.
