Abstract

• The Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) is a composite indicator that shows the level of development of democracy in Indonesia. The level of achievement is measured based on the implementation and development of 3 aspects, 11 variables, and 28 indicators of democracy.
• The methodology for calculating IDI uses 4 data sources, namely: (1) review of local newspapers, (2) review of documents (Perda, Pergub, etc.), (3) Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and (4) in-depth interviews.
• IDI 2019 reaches 74.92 on a scale of 0 to 100. This number has increased compared to the IDI 2018 figure of 72.39. The achievements of Indonesia's democratic performance are still in the "moderate" category.
• IDI from 2018–2019 was affected by a decrease in the aspect of Civil Liberties by 1.26 points (from 78.46 to 77.20), an increase in aspects of Political Rights by 4.92 points (from 65.79 to 70.71 ) and an increase in aspects of the Democratic Institution of 3.48 points (from 75.25 to 78.73).
