Consumer Price Index and Inflation Rate In January 2009

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in January 2009 was 113.78 or deflated 0.07% from December 2008 at 113.86. In January 2009, the changes of each expenditure group as follows: the foodstuff increased from 122.70 to 123.63 or inflated 0.76%; the prepared food, beverages, cigarette and tobacco increased from 114.98 to 116.07 or inflated 0.95%; the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel decreased from 113.02 to 112.95 or deflated 0.06%; the clothing increased from 112.27 to 112.89 or inflated 0.55%; the health increased from 109.13 to 109.53 or inflated 0.37%; the education, recreation and sport increased from 109.84 to 109.97 or inflated 0.12%, and the transportation, communication and financial services decreased from 107.26 to 104.55 or deflated 2.53%.
