Abstract

In August 2003, the average price of unhusked rice at rice mills for GKG quality and GKP quality were above their Reference Prices or Government Purchase Prices or reference prices (GPP), while the average price of unhusked rice for GKS was still below its GPP. Comparing to those in July 2003, the average prices of all qualities of unhusked rice experienced an increase, as high as 13.33 per cent for GKG. 3.66 per cent for GKS. 7.83 per cent for GKP and 7.68 per cent for Non-quality.
The percentage of unhusked rice prices which were below the reference prices (GPP) decreased, from 64.86 per cent in July 2003 to 54.94 per cent in August 2003. Similarly, the percentage for non-quality unhusked rice also decreased, from 17.91 per cent in July to 10.91 per cent in August 2003.
