Abstract

The number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia through 13 points of entry in June 2003 increased to 299.9 thousand people or rose by 34.78 per cent over the May 2003 figure as high as 222.5 thousand people.
In June, the number of railway passengers accounted to 12.6 million people, rose by 1.80 per cent compared to the figure in May 2003, meanwhile the railway freight transportation was calculated only at 1.3 million tons or dropped by 10.42 per cent. In cumulative January - May 2003 (semester I) period, the number of passengers accounted to 73.6 million people and the number of cargo was recorded at 7.7 million tons, both declined by 18.14 per cent and 9.72 per cent respectively, over the same period in 2002.
