Abstract

Based on 567 observations conducted in 14 provinces in June 2003, the lowest price of unhusked rice at farmers was 800.00 rupiahs per kilogram (i.e. in Lampung, Muncul varity, GKP quality), while the highest price was recorded at 1,900.00 per kilogram (i.e. in Kaliantan Tengah, Siam varity, GKS quality). In average, the prices of unhusked rice for GKS and GKP quality at farmers and rice mills were still below their Government Purchase Prices (GPP), while observation of GKG quality was not found.
The percentage of unhusked rice prices below the reference price (HPP) experienced a slight decrease, from 58.13 per cent in May to 57.14 per cent in June 2003. Meanwhile, for non-quality unhusked rice, that percentage increased, from 10.24 per cent in May to 15.87 per cent in June 2003.
