Abstract

The number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia through 13 points of entry in May 2003 increased again to 222.5 thousand people or rose by 8.76 per cent over the April 2003 figure as high as 204.6 thousand people.
In May 2003, the number of railway passengers accounted to 12.86 million people, rose by 7.87 per cent compared to the figure in April 2003, meanwhile the railway freight transportation was calculated at 1.50 million tons or increased by 16.64 per cent. In cumulative January - May 2003 period, the number of passengers accounted to 61.01 million people and the number of cargo was recorded at 6.33 million tons, declined by 17.95 per cent and 11.01 per cent respectively, over the same period in 2002.
