Abstract

Production of paddy in year 2002 (fixed figure) was 51.49 million tons, which increased by 2.04 per cent over the production in 2001. The increase in paddy production in 2002 was mainly affected by the rose in area harvested in areas outside Jawa and productivity in Jawa as well as outside Jawa.
Production of maize in year 2002 (fixed figure) was 9.65 million tons, which rose by 3.28 per cent over the production in 2001. The increase in maize production in 2002 was mainly due to the increase in its productivity.
Production of soybeans in year 2002 (fixed figure) was 0.67 million tons, which dropped by 18.61 per cent over the production in 2001. The decline in paddy production in 2002 was mainly caused by the decline in area harvested.
