BPS, BNPP, and Ministry of PKP Partnership: Accelerating Substandard Housing Renovation in Border Regions
April 30, 2026 | Other Activities
The use of the National Single Social and Economic Data (DTSEN) and the mapping of substandard housing backlogs in 40 regencies and cities form the foundation for accelerating the renovation of substandard housing in border areas. The analysis revealed significant challenges, with some regions even recording substandard housing rates of up to approximately 85 percent.
Armed with accurate, up-to-date, and reliable data, the government is now able to set regional priorities and identify target beneficiaries with greater precision. The key to this acceleration lies in cross-stakeholder collaboration among the central government, local governments, border management agencies, and development partners. Data integration serves as a coordination bridge that strengthens program synergy, minimizes overlapping interventions, and ensures resources are directed to the areas and groups most in need.
The intended impact extends beyond mere physical improvements to housing; it also encompasses a comprehensive enhancement of the quality of life for border communities.
Through a data-driven approach reinforced by collaboration, this program drives a significant reduction in substandard housing, accelerates equitable development, and fosters policies that are more inclusive, effective, and sustainable.
